Olivier Las Vergnas brings a rare double perspective to the question of AI and economic transformation: that of a researcher who has spent forty years at the intersection of adult learning, professional integration, and science communication — and that of a novelist who has been imagining the societal consequences of AI since the 1990s. As founder of the Cités des Métiers network — spaces dedicated to professional guidance and lifelong learning — he witnessed firsthand how technological disruptions reshape labour markets and skills. His recent research, co-authored with C. Jeunesse, synthesises thirteen years of international findings on digital technologies and generative AI in adult training, examining their effects on learning, work, and professional identity.
Vianney Perchet is a professor at the Center for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST) at ENSAE, whose work sits at the intersection of mathematics, computer science and economics, with a central focus on the interplay between machine learning and game theory. His research spans from pure theory — such as optimal convergence rates of algorithms — to concrete applications, including modeling user behavior and optimizing recommendation systems. He is also a principal researcher at the Criteo AI Lab in Paris, where he works on efficient exploration in these same systems. His recent work focuses notably on mechanism design for auctions, online fair allocation problems, and learning algorithms in multi-agent environments — questions that lie at the heart of modern digital markets. A leading figure at the intersection of AI and computational economics in France, Vianney Perchet embodies the fruitful dialogue between algorithms and markets.
